Rachel Reeves proudly announced herself as Britain’s first woman Chancellor, in a tedious example of identity politics, which meant nothing, given that Margaret Thatcher entered Downing Street as Prime Minister in 1979. Ironically, Socialist Reeves likes to compare herself to Mrs Thatcher — but she’s more Iron Curtain than Iron Lady.
